Agriculture in Harmony with Nature Since 1983
Welcome to Vonnie's Greens, purveyors of the finest, most nutritious microgreens on the East coast. What sets us apart from other growers is that our Wheatgrass, Sunflower and Buckwheat greens are grown in greenhouses, in fertile soil with natural sunlight. Growing our baby greens in these unique conditions produces a healthy plant, rich in chlorophyll and enzymes.
WHAT IS NATURAL?
Since 1983, Vonnie’s Greens has been a truly sustainable farm. Half of the plant material produced at Vonnie’s Greens is cycled back into the soil through the natural process of composting. This system builds nutrients in the soil and eliminates waste in the production of our microgreens. Our greens are grown in natural sunlight, providing them with the full color spectrum of the sun required for optimum enrichment. We have created a perfectly productive system—free from synthetic chemicals, additives and preservatives. We have been building the nutrients in our soil for more than 25 years, creating the richest medium possible in which to grow you the best microgreens available.
We at Vonnie’s Greens know that healthy plants grow best in natural, nutrient-rich soil—with
natural sunlight. You can taste the difference!
Producing the most tasty and nutritious microgreens is a simple process—but it’s not easy! We have spent nearly 30 years perfecting our process and creating the rich soil we use to nurture our baby greens.
With the increased popularity of microgreens as supplemental health food, factory-style mass production with a goal of ease and convenience, is becoming the norm. With just one sip you can taste the bitterness of an artificial environment. Hydroponic plants grown on petrochemical mats, or plants grown in barren, commercial-grade potting mixes—with only artificial light—simply don’t taste good. We at Vonnie’s Greens know that healthy plants grow best in natural, nutrient-rich soil—with natural sunlight! You will immediately taste the difference in our naturally sweet flavor—we guarantee it!
A native Southerner, Von Webb began
a love of French intensive organic gardening in 1975 on the family farm.
At a young age he was exposed to the work of Buckminster Fuller, as well as John Todd, founder of the New Alchemy Institute. Through the Institute, Todd was rethinking the way that food, water and agricultural systems worked, which inspired Von to take his interest in producing a lot of food in a small space to the next level. In Survival Into the 21st Century--A Planetary Healer’s Manual by Viktoras Kulvinskas, Von was turned on to the idea of soil-grown microgreens.
In 1978, a microfarmer was born. Von introduced wheatgrass and its benefits to Atlanta that year, giving away shots of wheatgrass juice at a south Atlanta health food store.
Von went to Boston and served as the wheatgrass grower for Dr. Ann Wigmore at the Hippocrates Institute of Health.
In 1983, he returned to Atlanta and founded Vonnie’s Greens, the first farm in the Southeast to produce wheatgrass, sunflower and buckwheat microgreens, the backbone of the raw foods diet.
We can't wait to bring our powerful little microgreens to you!
Vonnie's Greens is the only wholesale wheatgrass producer licensed in the state of Georgia.
You can find our produce at most local health food stores, finer juice bars, and many restaurants throughout the region.
